Monthly Photo Challenge: North Chagrin Reservation — January

I have decided to participate in the monthly photo challenge issued by Cardinal Guzman. In Guzman’s own words “Find a location near your home, take somewhere between 5-20 photos and post them in a gallery in your blog. Continue to do this every month . . . so that in the end of the year, you’ll have a nice and diverse set of photos in your portfolio. The idea is to capture all the changes: the seasons, the weather, different times of the day, some night photography perhaps?” We are urged to post our monthly portfolios between the 7th and 15th of the month. For this project I have chosen North Chagrin Reservation located near Cleveland, OH as my spot! It is my favorite place to go, a place where I find solace or wind down after a particularly challenging day at work. I have photographed that location quite extensively but not with the intent of building a portfolio or documenting the changes through the seasons of the year. I look forward to the challenge. Join in if you wish.

  1. You’re making me homesick. I really do miss northeast Ohio. There’s a beauty there in winter that I haven’t been able to find here. Wonderful series, Cecelia. I look forward to watching as the seasons progress. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Robin. I knew that you moved but forget where you are now living. I

I look forward to creating this portfolio. This is one of my all time favorite spots to run away to when the going gets tough! Always calming and interesting, too. Thanks for following along.

  2. This area is the perfect area to watch the seasons change! Lovely entry for the challenge and I’m looking forward to see more. I saw the snake sculpture there, but is it a snake area? Do you have real snakes there?

    1. Thanks Cardinal. This promises to be a fun year-long challenge. The reservation is one of my favorite places to explore. As for the snake sculpture, until recently that spot was taken by two large frog sculptures. I think they change it up every few years. The sculptures are great for kids to climb on, for family photos, etc. Yes, there are real snakes there but I rarely see them.

  3. A wonderful set of images that really captures the spirit of the challenge. I can feel the cold and the wind… though that may actually be sneaking in through my windows 🙂

    1. Thank you, Beth. Glad you like this set. It will be fun to photograph the changes at the reservation each month. Hopefully it won’t be long before the images set a warmer mood! Thanks for stopping by.

  4. These are absolutely beautiful shots, i found you through Cardinals site as I am doing the monthly challenge too. We dont have snow here and you got a robin my favourite bird, i can never get birds to stay still long enough and robins don’t seem to visit us here as we have wild paraquettes everywhere who are so nosy and bully the native birds away x

    1. Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the photos (and mucho thanks to Cardinal for issuing the challenge!) I will come over and check your photos, too, and look forward to your entries throughout the year. Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
