Five Question Friday: January 13, 2012

Welcome back to Five Question Friday. Don’t be spooked that this is Friday the 13th! It happens from time to time and I’m still here to talk about it. πŸ˜€ Hope you had a good week. Here are this week’s questions. Take a stab at it for yourselves and share your answers with the rest of us! πŸ™‚

1. What’s the last thing you bought for yourself?

I don’t remember. It was probably a book. That is my weakness. I pick up a book of poetry and then I can’t seem to put it back down; it must go home with me. Or I’ll see a book on photography that I simply must have. Novels? I tend to check those out at the library. Then there are textbooks, and then more textbooks. My courses are going well but there sure is a lot of reading! (It’s a good thing I love to read πŸ˜‰ )

2. What is your favourite meal on a cold winter day?Β

A hot bowl of homemade vegetable soup or chili. Nothing beats it on a cold winter day. Nothing.

3. Have you started looking at swimsuits for this year, and do you buy a new one every year?

I haven’t bought a swimsuit in over a dozen years! I used to be quite a swimmer–was a life guard at Davis Swimming Pool at Fort Knox, KY, during my young years. Here I was a 19-year-old girl working as a life guard at a pool filled with GI’s in the early ’70’s. Viet Nam still captured the headlines every night. I actually went in the pool to pull someone out a few times during my tenure in that position. Ahhhh. . . that was a long time ago. But today I don’t swim. And I don’t know why I quit going to the pool. There is certainly opportunity. Hmmmm . . . Β maybe another NoCZ-2012 challenge to consider! πŸ˜‰

4. If you could be any candy what would you be and why?

Peppermint candy because I love peppermint. πŸ™‚

5. What are you most passionate about?

Cecelia Futch SkyDiving!

Oh wow! This is a hard question because I am passionate about a lot of things. I would have to say that I am passionate about life! When I think of my passions, all of them have to do with helping people, improving life for myself and others, loving my children, developing my spirit as well as the spirit of the world, and the list goes on. But the one thing that these passions have in common is they celebrate life and seek to improve the lives of myself and others. So, I am passionate about life and living authentic lives.

Well, I’m done for today. I hope that one of these questions will spark your interest and that you will join the discussion. Have a great weekend and a wonderful week. See you next Friday!

  1. 1. What’s the last thing you bought for yourself?
A drawing pad for the computer.

    2. What is your favourite meal on a cold winter day?
I agree with Cecilia: soup or chilli.

    3. Have you started looking at swimsuits for this year, and do you buy a new one every year?
Why would anyone buy a new swinsuit every year? What a stupid question.

    4. If you could be any candy what would you be and why?
An undigestive one, or perhaps one of those chinese ones that had poison in them.
Just so I could cause some havoc & destruction.

    5. What are you most passionate about?
Today? The fact that the weekend is right around the corner and that I have 2 days a head of me that I don’t have to waste at an office.

    1. Wow, you have some interesting answers this week, CG. I hope you get to fully enjoy your weekend! Thanks for stopping by. If you lived closer we could enjoy a bowl of soup together. πŸ™‚

  2. 1. An on-line computer game (hidden pictures)
    2. Chili
    3. Looking at swimsuits depresses me. They’re all of beautiful women with perfect bodies. Who looks like that in real life???
    4. Reeses peanut butter cups. Yum!
    5. Learning Hebrew.

  3. 1. Baby Ruth. 2. Baby Ruth. 3. Swim suits? Only dorks from Ohio or New Jersey buy swim suits. Here on Miami Beach, Hawaiian surfer shorts are cool but we locals wear cut-off jeans. 4. Baby Ruth. 5. Baby Ruth.

    1. Yes! I did! More than once! Richard is not too crazy about the me jumping out of airplanes thousands of feet in the air, so I haven’t done it in a while. But talk about an adrenaline rush!!!!! Love it! πŸ™‚

  4. Skydiving? Good for you, Cecelia.

Since moving to FL, I’ve bought new swimsuits . . . and head to the pool for Water Aerobics twice a week, weather permitting.

The last thing I bought for myself . . . CHOCOLATE!

    1. Yes, I use to be a skydiver. πŸ™‚ (Not one of the fancy kind with the outfits that make formations — just a simple little jump out of a plane. πŸ™‚ )

Water Aerobics sounds great. Maybe I’ll see if there is a program nearby. There may be snow on the ground outside, but there is still swimming somewhere near here inside!

I love chocolate, too. Enjoy πŸ˜‰

    1. LOL! Can’t remember when I last bought a bathing suit! I don’t know who comes up with the questions, but there is usually something funny in the mix. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy.

  5. 1) The last things a bought for myself are groceries. We finally got a cold snap here in NY and I was inspired to make a hearty turkey chili. Yum

    2) See above

    3) No swimsuit shopping for me. I’ve had the same 2 swimsuits for the last 5 years.

    4) I’d like to be jelly beans because they are colorful; come in a variety of flavors and I like that you can get them in equally delicious highbrow gourmet versions or lowbrow bargain basement versions.

    5) Professionally, I’m passionate about nurturing community engagement. Personally I’m passionate about making time for play. I feel blessed when, from time to time, these 2 passions merge.
