River of Stones: Day 3

Muted colors. Winter colors. Stark cold . . . Brutal. Yet, beautiful, mesmerizing, hypnotizing. I abhor the cold. But I could not tear myself away. The solitude, the beauty, the crispness, the silence invited me to stay a while.

    1. Thanks, CG. I was surprised at how caught up in the moment I was. I detest cold, but for an hour yesterday I was so “in the moment” that I never noticed the cold until we were walking back to our car to leave the center. What a wonderful hour of silence, beauty, seeing, hearing, feeling.

  1. This was my favorite photo in your winter slideshow. I think we might have similar tastes when it comes to the beauty of nature. Now, if I could only compose words as well as you do. Oh well, I’ll just have to work with what I’ve got.
    Great job Cecelia!

    1. Thank you. As we were leaving the nature center, I commented to Richard about how much I disliked cold weather, but give me a camera and let me loose, and I am totally oblivious to temperature or time. I get caught up in the moment, and deeply moved by what I see. Go figure. πŸ™‚

  2. Beautiful Cecelia! I swear I took almost the exact photo today at the lake access across the street from me. I froze my tootsies off. It was brutal as you say. Oh what we photographers endure! Hugs, Margie

  3. I think i can live there! You see we dont get cold enough to despise the weather back here…..i was wondering…can i cheat my way into this challenge?

I have my thoughts and my photos sorted but with a new job i seem to be in a post a week challenge as of now 😦

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Kamakshi. I’m glad you like the photo. And yes, you can join the challenge at any time. If you click on the badge, it should take you to the home place for this challenge. It lasts for a month (but if I’m up for it, I hope to continue beyond the month.) It is a “gentle” challenge, too, which makes it more enjoyable. If you want to join, feel free to copy the badge and start posting! πŸ™‚

  4. I love the cold and snow. Always so beautiful and crisp. I think I like it specifically because of the solitude… always so quiet on cold days since most people are hiding inside. Beautiful photo and love the winter theme background and header photos too!

    1. Thanks Indigo. I’m not a cold-weather person, but I am discovering that with a camera in hand I am seeing the beauty of the season like I have not before. I’m glad you like the photos as well as my winter theme! πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by.
