Weekly Photo Challenge: Breakfast

The reason I signed on for the “Weekly Photo Challenge,” besides the fact that I am passionate about this hobby, is I enjoy being pushed to view things differently, to get out of my rut and develop a more complex artistic eye. I have enjoyed the various challenges and like the creativity involved when trying to depict an idea with a different point of view. But I’ll be honest; “breakfast” just didn’t do anything for me. Yet, this challenge does push me to think, and look. And that is the purpose of the challenge, isn’t it. Maybe this seems like a lackluster week, photographically speaking, because my course-work is picking up steam as we pass the half-way point of the quarter and are heading toward the final. Whatever the reason (or excuse) I just wasn’t so inspired with this challenge. I’m posting my breakfast photo, but will keep my eyes open, and brain cells working, in the hopes of posting a more appealing interpretation of the challenge before the end of the week. Enjoy.

The Aftermath!

Check out some of the links below for wonderful “breakfast” photos. Check out MissWhiplash’s link (below) for a wake-up call and reminder of what breakfast is for too many people in this world.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Hi there! Thank you for the pingback. I nearly gave this one a miss because I though Breakfast was so uninspiring a topic especially when I saw all the plates of bacon and eggs! However, in an attempt to make it a bit more interesting I went ahead with a step by step breakfast and got into a terrible sticky mess trying to get the honey to look just right. That was a challenge in itself, as you can imagine. I have to agree with you, regarding Miss Whiplash, I saw her post and it made me think how lucky we are just to be able to have breakfast.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Ronnie. I’ve seen beautiful food shots, but I’ve never been able to accomplish that. I’ll keep my eyes open and maybe I’ll find some inspiration in an unexpected place…a different take on breakfast, maybe. Or, maybe I’ll just work really hard on my courses so that I can enjoy T’giving with the family in KY. 🙂 Glad that I’m not the only one to find this challenge uninspiring. Probably says more about me than it does the challenge. At any rate, I’m glad to see you and thank you for your comments. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Normally I do to, Rebekah. Just not into this one though. I think this is the first one that I actually disliked. Oh well, all part of learning, growing, stretching. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I like your idea of the aftermath. I was stuck at first too with this challenge, but then I thought about my mornings…. my ‘breakfast’ is all about words and coffee and morning meditations. It’s got nothing to do with eggs and oatmeal, even if I sometimes eat them. I find myself challenged to think outside the box … it’s really about the photo and not the literal topic, right? Like you, I keep working on it! I like your interpretation here.

    1. Thanks Amy. I agree with your creative way of interpreting “breakfast.” Morning coffee, prayers, and reflection on the Psalms is usually how I start my day. May your day be bright and beautiful, and may your interpretation of this challenge knock our socks off! 😀 (but NO presssure!)

        1. Wow, Amy. I just looked at your page. YOU KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF! for real! Your creativity and artist’s eye was evident in the beautiful photography. You captured the essence of this challenge beautifully. Thanks for the eye-candy! 🙂

  3. Thank you darling girl for the mention… Breakfast was not an easy subject at first glance but then you have to think of something else related to breakfast that is not a bowl of cornflakes..I did a lotta thinking about what I posted but I felt (in my bones) that it was the right thing to do

  4. I like it. It’s not just another plate of eggs. 🙂

I’ve been pondering this one, too. So far I haven’t come up with anything creative. Who would have thought breakfast would be such a difficult subject?

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Carl. We usually do the bowl of cereal and cup of coffee routine. We’ll throw in some fruit if we think of it. I’m a committed breakfast eater, but it’s always simple.

  5. Oh Cecelia, yours is even better (or worse) than mine. I’m definitely not a person who has time to fuss over breakfast easier. And if you didn’t see Frizztext’s, be sure to take a look at it. Very clever.

    1. Thank you Huffygirld! I’m glad to not be alone on this challenge. 🙂 And yes, I saw Frizztext’s entry. Very clever indeed! Check out some of the others who’ve commented on this post. Some are quite good.

    1. Thank you. I just wasn’t into this one. Maybe it’s the mountain of school work, but I wasn’t too motivate. Others, though, have done a magnificent job. Very creative ideas. See some of the commenter above for some nice artwork. At any rate, I feel a little guilty about falling down on the job this week. Now, back to the studies! 🙂 Take care, and have a glorious day (and a healthy breakfast.)

    1. Yes, I think you are correct. I have seen some beautiful, creative photos though. Wishing now that I had put a little more effort into it. Ah well, live and learn. Have a great weekend.

    1. Hello Caine,
Please forgive me for taking so long to respond to your wonderful award. I kept your note on my dashboard until I had time to adequately thank you and write a blog. As it is, and quite unexpectedly I might add, the award ended up being my 200th post on this site. Thank you so much for the nod. Blessings to you, too, and congrats on recieving the award yourself.

      Cecelia
