Five Question Friday: September 16, 2011

Good Friday once again.  I hope your week has gone well.  I completed my last paper of the school quarter and submitted it about thirty minutes ago, so I’m feeling great. Richard and I will make the most of the three-week break between school terms and I hope to have a lot to share with you during this time. But for now, let’s get on with today’s questions which appear below. I thought that I might come up with my own questions this week, but this was a challenging week and finals week to boot! The brain is drained, so nothing too creative this time around. Please feel free to join in and leave some of your own answers. Here goes . . .

1. If you had a weekly newspaper column, what would you name it?

I’m not sure what I would name it. My family and friends tell me I ramble a lot so something like “C’s Ramblings”, or “Rambling Thoughts,” or not. I never have been good with quippy, pithy titles . . . not my forte, so this question is quite a challenge for me.  What would you name your weekly newspaper column?

2. Who is your mentor/inspiration?

Oh my, another challenging question! There are so many people who inspire me. The first answer that comes to mind is my mother. She is an amazing woman who looks at the world with wonder. She is in her 80’s now but she is still interested in the natural world, asking questions, going to museums and traveling with Dad. Whenever we speak, which is rather frequently, she usually has some new insight or something of great interest to tell me. Mom is one of those who has always figured out how to make lemonade with lemons, and then enjoy the taste.

There are many more men and women who inspire, but my mom is the one nearest and dearest to my heart.

3. What is your wake up beverage of choice?

Coffee, naturally!  No one speaks to me till I’ve had my first cup of coffee each morning. Wish it weren’t so, but it is. . . What can I say 😉

4. Would you wear your mom’s clothes?

No. Probably not. But then, she wouldn’t wear mine either.

5. When you were a kid, did you put posters on your wall? If so, what were they of?

Yes, of the Beatles, the Monkeys, the Beachboys, and others.

OK, let’s hear your answers! ;-D

  1. Mother’s clothes would not fit. She’s only 5″1″ and weighs 100 pounds. Then there is the matter of being a son not a daughter. I did wear women’s clothes once. It was Halloween so I got away with it

  2. Sounds like your Mom is a pretty cool Lady! And do I detect a Grizzly loitering with intent in the kitchen until the percolator has done its job? 😉 Nice set of answers 🙂

    1. Yes, to both answers. Mom is really cool and I am worse that a grizzly until I’ve had my first cup of coffee. Oh well. . . there are worse things, I guess. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. 1. I would never, ever have a weekly newspaper column. Is there still such a thing as a weekly photo column? I haven’t bought a newspaper in years so I can’t think of a good answer to this question.
    2. My mentor/inspiration would be you and all of the other great bloggers who I’ve met this year on WordPress.
    3. My wake up beverage of choice is coffee.
    4. I would wear my mom’s clothes – if they fit me. She has a classic Audrey Hepburn/Grace Kelly taste in clothes.
    5. When I was a kid, posters were not allowed on the walls. We frequently lived in houses that my dad was trying to sell. If possible though, I would of had a Fleetwood Mac poster hanging on my wall.

  4. I love Rambling Thoughts but you get to name it what you wish… Love your shares on these. 🙂
I’m finally catching up on everyone’s blog. Thank you for your patience! 🙂

    1. Rambling Thoughts is good. If ever I get a column I’ll keep that in mind. Glad you enjoyed 5QF this week. I, too, am trying to catch up with everyone. I got behind during my finals week. Have a glorious week and I’ll see you on your blog.

  5. Most of the list we share in commom it made me smile. My mom inspired me too. An example of a generous heart and a loving spirit. I won’t wear her clothes obviously. As for my dad, I’m 5’9″ he’s 5’2″ , it ain’t gonna work size wise. Coffee is both my zen and energy booster. I’ll call my paper ” Island Thoughts,” where anything is possible. I had the poster of Michael J. At the height of THRILLER! Stay blessed my friend. It was a joy to read your post.

    1. So glad you stopped by! and that you enjoyed the questions and answers. Yes to the coffee, and I like your column title. Very fitting. M.J. was a little after my time, but I like THRILLER. Have a great week and hope to see you back next Friday.

  6. I hope you don’t mind but I’m recyling my answers here from comments I made on another’s submission to Five Question Friday (I cannot remember exactly what I said for all).
    1. I already have one… my blog here on WP!
    2. The Marx Brothers (except Zeppo, of course).
    3. Coffee, coffee, coffee! I have many coffee devices — drip, espresso, a briki (for Greek coffee), a French press (well, at least my coffee has been “freshly pressed”), a stovetop glass percolator just like Mom used to have, Vietnamese coffee on-cup filters, and some Korean instant coffee with coffee-mate and sugar included (the plastic envelopes are designed to be used to to stir the drink).
    4. No way! Dad already has dibs on them!
    5. I had several black-light posters but no black-light lamp…unplugged psychedelics?

    Great post, thanks!
