We are finally taking a vacation, a real vacation! No business on this trip! Our first destination is the beautiful state of Kentucky, where we will spend some time with my parents and see other family and friends. Although I speak to Mom and Dad several times every week, it has been years since I’ve been home. I’m looking forward to it. The journey home happens to take us along one of the most beautiful highways in this country. We picked up Interstate 64 in Virginia and traveled that route through West Virginia into Kentucky, and will continue all the way to Louisville. Yesterday was a beautiful day for traveling. The photos below were all taken peering through the car windshield as we traveled, just to give you an idea of the landscape. We looked for a pull-off for a scenic view where I could get some good shots, but no luck. When I uploaded these photos last night in the motel, however, I was pleased. At least they give you an idea of the beautiful terrain of the countryside.
When we entered into West Virginia, we looked for a visitors’ center so that we could pick up some information about the state we were traveling through. To our dismay the visitors’ center was closed, but we were routed to another center quite a bit off the beaten path. That detour proved to be a delightful break, and below are some photos of this bucolic, historic little village of Greenbriar.
Once back on the road, we traveled through more beautiful country and into Kentucky. By this time we were both very tired, so we pulled off in Morehead, Kentucky for the night. The interesting draw to Morehead is that I graduated college from Morehead State University. Before we get back on the road to Louisville, I hope to make a drive through the campus.
If I get photos, I’ll post! So now, I’m off again, this time to get cleaned, fed and on the road toward Louisville and Mom and Dad! See y’all later. Have a glorious day.
EEK!!!! Beautiful photos, and not a one uploaded!!!! Will try to fix this the next time I find wifi! Sorry. 😦
